How To Handle A Breakup

Proven Expert TW Jackson On How To Handle A Breakup

Break ups can sometimes be disastrous to a person while for some it can be another starting point of life – it depends on the person’s attitude. Breakups are certainly tough but you can make it easier for yourself if you think positively and decide to move on with your life. There is no one good way of how to handle a breakup but reacting negatively or going into a rage or a self sympathetic mode for more than a day or two can be extremely harmful to you and the people around you.

If you think there is still hope despite a breakup then channel all your negative energy into reviving it in a positive way. Do not stalk your partner or argue with them too much. This will only increase the negativity within you. Instead, approach your partner in a friendly manner and calmly analyze where you went wrong and constructively think if this relationship can be given one more chance. Of course, your partner has to be forthcoming as well or else this is not possible.

If both of you have broken up for good, it is time you both move on in life. Do not cling to memories. Wake up the next day, go to work and absorb yourself in work. You can probably spend some time with your parents. It is amazing how most people do not realize the kind of support parents can give their children during tough patches in life. Or you can take a holiday by yourself or with your friends. A lot of people get into a rebound or jump into the first relationship post breakup very quickly.

These generally end in disasters. Instead, spend some time thinking where you both went wrong. Do not get all guilt-ridden and end up blaming yourself for the breakup. Consult a therapist if you want. They can give you professional advice on how to handle a breakup. You should also not end up feeling very sorry for yourself. Remember, do not carry any baggage from your previous relationships or do not make any foregone conclusions based on your break ups. It will only affect your future relationships.

Some people prefer not to date immediately after a breakup. That is fine but do not isolate yourselves too much. It is good to go on a double date in the beginning if you are not very comfortable. While you can avoid pubs or discotheques that you and your ex frequented for some while, you should remember to be calm and composed if you run across your ex in any place professionally or personally. Losing your composure can do you no good. Understand that both parties have to move on post a breakup.
